SE16 Recipes
What can be done to enrich the life of the local community? Even if it is through the smallest of actions - in a world of involuntary gentrification - a northerner who moves to Bermondsey, London, can assimilate themselves into the community in the least threatening way possible - trying to enrich dinnertime.
Based on Pete Brown’s Pie Fidelity, an elaboration of George Orwell's In Defence of British Cuisine, SE16 Recipes an ongoing community project about providing free and accessible recipes for as many people as possible. Through these recipes, we can think about British heritage through the food we eat. Whilst at the same time eating well, for cheap and with the lowest carbon footprint possible.
The project will take the form of weekly recipes such as Lentil Spag Bol, Tofish and Chips, Sunday Dinner and several more. By posting information about cheap, easy and nutritious food, through the letterboxes of SE16, the aim is to create a sense of community around food in a time where socialising is difficult.
